The
children of today will one day be the leaders of tomorrow,
and it our obligation to lay the foundation for future generations
to treat all living creatures with dignity and to instill a
message of personal responsibility.
Since
1990, Actors and Others has presented a humane education program
to thousands of students from pre-school to high school. Staff
and volunteers conduct classes in both public and private schools
to teach responsible pet guardianship and to motivate and instruct
students to care for and protect all animals. A variety of
methods are used, depending on the grade level. Lecture, videos
and discussion, book reviews, role-playing, puppets, games
and individual projects are utilized in order to involve each
student in the learning process.
If
you are interested in becoming a Humane Education volunteer
or know of a local school that would like to arrange a visit,
please give our Coordinator a call. Our hours are 9:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and our telephone numbers
are (818) 755-6045 or (818) 755-6323.
